Tivoli Garden is a well-known amusement park and is currently the most visited theme park in Scandinavia in Europe. The park opened for people on August 15, 1843 and became the second oldest amusement park in the world, after Dyrehavsbakken in nearby Klampenborg. Tivoli is constructed at the heart of Copenhagen - right next to the Central Station, Hovedbanegården. Tivoli's founder, Georg Carstensen acquired a five-year charter to generate Tivoli by telling King Christian VIII that "when the people are amusing themselves, they do not think about politics”. For most Danes Tivoli is part of a summer tradition and plenty of them recall their childhood visits while visiting these Gardens.
With the unique atmosphere of this lighting garden, the people, the rides, the concerts etc, all have a nice time for gratification Tivoli garden captivates different enjoyment activities done by different people. Some come here to enjoy the plenty of, fantastic flowers or spend a day with their grandchildren. While others come here as part of an annual tradition with the relatives where ice cream, rides and having a lovely time at this centre. There are few who come here to attained cultural events in the Concert Hall, at the Pantomime Theater, in the Glass Hall Theater and the Open Air Stage.
Roller coaster rides in the garden
The park is best known for its wooden roller coaster ride, Rutsjebanen or as some people calls it Bjerg Banen (Mountain Track). It is one of the world's oldest wooden roller coasters rides that is still operating today. An operator controls the ride by breaking down the hills. Dæmonen (The Devil) is a roller coaster in the Danish amusement park, Tivoli Gardens. It opened on April 16, 2004 and features an Immelmann loop, a vertical loop, as well as a Zero-G roll. The riders experience g-forced up to three time gravity while traveling the 564 meters long ride.
Tickets to this amusement park
Admission to Tivoli Gardens is separated according to ages and costs 79 DDK (10 Euro) for adults and40 DDK (5 Euro) for children. So you can stay all day if you need but in order to seek all the fun rides you will need a tour pass which is a ticket that let you access to all the rides.
Trolley Bus
It’s fundamentally easy to be driven around the Tivoli Gardens for a change, by the means of trolley bus. This delightful small journey will bring you around most of the places except where one cannot drive - like ‘Smøgen’ - a narrow elderly street within Tivoli itself with a lot of different fun stuff to discover.
Tivoli Gardens Concert Hall and Pantomime Theatre
Built in 1956 by Hans Hansen and with the capacity to accommodate 1660 people, Tivoli Concert Hall is a classical concert hall which attributes concerts with several of the largest names in international classical music. In 2005 the concert hall saw a major renovation and expansion by 3XN where the classical 50’s styles of the main auditorium were renewed along with a characteristic color method of red, blue, yellow and green colors. The Royal Danish Pantomime Theater is an open-air theater designed by Vilhelm Dahlerup.
