Town Hall is one of the most prominent and architecturally famous buildings in the city of Helsingborg. The beautiful building stands tall and magnificent among the rest of the buildings and is the first to capture attention when touring the city in a ferry. The 68 meters high bell tower is eye catching and makes the building conspicuous in the surroundings.
The Town Hall, also known as Rådhuset and City Hall, was built in 1897 and is one of the most fascinating architectural pieces in Sweden. The place can be visited at particular times and the tourist offices provide information about the visiting hours. It is a treat to the people interested in architecture and the tourists can even listen to carillion many times a day.
The majestic building was designed by the architect Alfred Hellerström and has been built in neo-Gothic style. Located next to the main square, the city hall has towers, pinnacles and ornamented facades. The bell tower is known to play melodies known as carillions at different hours of the day.
Guided tours to the Town Hall are available in summer but during winter, the tourists can’t get beyond the reception area without having work at the place. An equestrian statue in front of the building is an added attraction. The brilliant architecture of the building makes it one of the famous landmarks in Helsingborg.
Saint Mary’s Church in Helsingborg is also known as Mariakyrkan. The beautiful church has been constructed with red bricks and is located not far from the Town Hall. The church is surrounded by small flowerbeds and is a beautiful sample of Gothic style architecture.
