Skånes Djurpark is a zoological park in Skåne County and a prime tourist attraction in Helsingborg. The zoo has more than 75 species of Nordic animals. A perfect place for a family visit, it also features a special children’s Zoo where the kids can play with the animals. The ark benches, the lively animals and the beautiful surroundings make the place ideal for a family outing.
The zoo has around 900 animals, which are kept in large enclosures in natural environments. There are many domestic animals on display and some of the orphaned animals are temporarily displayed here, along with the Nordic fauna. The park provides protection to the animals and has been built according to their needs.
The zoo was founded in 1953 and is being operated as a foundation. The Skånes Djurpark foundation is funded by Skåne Regional Council that supports the organization with two million kronor every year. The number of visitors to the zoo has increased in the past years and the entrance ticket to Skånes Djurpark has been increased to 200 kronor for an adult.
The animals generally roam freely around their enclosures and the visitors can catch a glimpse of theirs when they come near the exteriors of their enclosures. Bear Mountain is a major attraction here and other animals like wolves, goats, lambs and lynxes can also be spotted. The place is a major attraction for the children visiting the city. Nature play areas and water slides are the additional attractions for the youngsters.
