Ribersborg beach is commonly known as Ribban and is the most popular recreational area located in the city of Malmö. The entire area has two parts which include the beach with an open-air bathing area known as Kallabahuset and the greener part that has ponds, lawns and football and rugby fields. The beach has a broad promenade along the beach that is utilized by the cyclists, runners and even people who come out just for a stroll.
Malmö is perhaps the only major city to have a fine downtown beach in the entire Northern Europe. The water is so clear that it has been granted the international “Blue Flag” award. The 2.5 kilometers long beach is also referred to as Scandinavia’s Copacabana. The beach is frequented on summer days as well as on winter ones. The beach offers dog’s bathing area, a nude beach and facilities for the disabled too.
Sun-loving people throng the beach during summer and others visit the beach for a long stroll on the ice, if any, during winter. The sea view is admirable and people love to have picnics on the beach with family. The beautiful beach invites visitors from all over the world to enjoy sunbathing, swimming, lazy strolling and general picnics with family.
The beach is located 15 minutes from the Central Station and 10 minutes from Malmöhus museum. It can also be reached within 15-20 minutes from the Turning Torso. Also, a walk past the old harbor area beyond Västra Hamnen’s modern developments will lead you to Ribersborg beach.
