Lilla Torg is Malmö’s most charming square and also one of the most popular meeting places built as a market square. It is a part of the old downtown of the city with majority of the buildings having pubs, restaurants and shops. Built in 1592, the square has many interesting buildings from the 16th century. Hedmanska Gården is the oldest building that dates from the 16th century while Form/Design Centre is the youngest building from the late 19th century.
Hedmanska Gården hosts outdoor concerts in the month of July and between March and October, the square overflows with restaurants and cafés sporting a vibrant atmosphere. The Form/Design Centre hosts exhibitions pertaining to design and architecture. A huge collection of shops and outdoor cafés keeps the place teeming with enthusiastic people in a zestful environment.
The shopping square is within walking distance from the Central Station and is one of the most visited places in the city of Malmö. The outdoor serving areas in the Lilla Torg are the main attractions for the tourists waiting to tickle their taste buds with the local cuisine. The place is most revered for the quiche, sandwiches, salads, coffee, cake, shopping opportunities and many more prospects.
The place is a wonderful blend of old and modern, offering a tall office building towards the northern part, old-fashioned estates and shops in the southern part, a mix of old and new in the western part and relatively modern surroundings towards the east. Perfect for an evening outing, Lilla Torg has something to offer to every tourist visiting the place.
