Airport

Airport-LundLund is a city belonging to the province of Scania and offers many tourist attractions. It doesn’t have an airport of its own but can be reached with the help of the nearby airports. Two of the closest airports to Lund are:

- Copenhagen Airport, Denmark (CPH/Kastrup) and
- Malmö Airport, Sweden (MMX/Sturup)

Copenhagen Airport

It is the nearest major airport to Lund and takes 45 minutes to reach the city by train. The Kastrup airport is 36 km from the center of Lund and is located in Denmark.

Malmö Airport

Malmö Sturup has several international flights from different destinations within Europe. There are taxi and bus services available from the airport that can be used to reach Lund. The travel time is around 30 minutes by bus.

Reaching Lund includes traveling via Malmö central station where one needs to change the trains. Tickets need to be bought at the airport ticket office in the arrivals hall itself. The train travels over the Öresund Bridge. The tickets can be bought even till Lund as they are valid even when trains are changed. Tickets can be paid for in Euros, Swedish or Danish kronor at the airport. Debit/credit cards can also be used for the payments.International visitors to Lund should consider travel insurance.

Other shopping outlets popular for various products include the university bookshop Akademibokhandeln at the Storgatan famous for a huge collection of foreign-language books, ICA supermarket at Bangatan and Press Stop at Klostergatan 8 offering foreign magazines and newspapers. Saluhallen is the market hall for food located at Mårtenstorget that is one among the most visited shops.

Some of the other shops include Bertoni for men’s outfits, Bianco Footwear, Bik Bok boutique and Femelle boutique. Lund offers many shopping opportunities and is visited by tourists with different tastes, successfully catering to their requirements.

The Butler Service in Holmby offers exquisite food and a lasting dining experience. The people wishing to indulge in something exquisite, regardless of cost, can visit the restaurant for an irrevocable experience. Grand Hotel is again a better option for the people who don’t feel the pinch in their wallets. The Mediterranean offers the Mediterranean cuisine with ‘Greek specialties’.

Stortorget attracts many people since it offers good food at reasonable prices and an attentive service. Italia Il Ristorante is an Italian restaurant run by Italians offering the most delicious pastas and pizzas. Kattesund offers Swedish cuisine and Masala House is the Indian restaurant in central Lund. Papaya serves great Thai food and Ming Palace is a popular Chinese restaurant.

 

Nightlife

Nightlife-LundLund is a small city in southern Sweden that is dominated by the university and its students. The students at the university are both local and international students who enjoy themselves as a community, away from the society. These associations and nightclubs are known as “nations”. The students have a lot of fun and the nightlife is quite pulsating in the city.

Some of the popular bars and nightclubs in the city include Café Ariman, Mejeriet, & Bar (and/och bar) and Basilika. Ariman is a relaxed café located behind the Cathedral that offers great music as well as food. Mejeriet is the most popular place in the city for live music offering a mixture of everything from jazz to clubbing and salsa to rock-n-roll. Originally known as Kulturmejeriet, it is located at the southern end of Stadsparken Park.

&Bar (and/och bar) is a nice place to have a drink. The place serves good food and the DJ plays lounge/mainstream music. It is located behind the bust station at the Mårtenstorget. Basilika is a popular nightclub that is most visited despite being very small. It is very popular among the young crowd.

Dance clubs in the city generally operate only on weekends when the clientele includes students. T-Bar located in the basement of Tegnérs Matsalar restaurant, Sandgatan 2, is the hottest spot in the city. Gloria's Restaurant/Sportbar has a dance floor and is open on weekends (Friday and Saturday) with free entrance. Palladium located at Stora Södergatan 13 is a beer pub with a dance floor and free admission.
