lund cultureLund is located in the province of southern Sweden and was founded when Scanian lands were a part of Denmark. The city has been growing rapidly and is a major tourist attraction. Lund culture mainly depends upon the student population in the city and the student traditions. The nightlife is also majorly characterized by the student culture at student fraternities termed as “Nations”.

The city also encourages concerts and theatres through the city theatre and many other places for concerts and performances. The city also has the largest open-air museum Kulturen, which is the largest in Scania. The museum is of historical importance since it is the second largest open-air museum in the world. Kulturen has above 30 buildings and a huge collection of Scanian crafts, art, history and archaeology. The tourists can have a look at the various kinds of exhibitions hosted at the museum and experience the Swedish culture throughout centuries.

Lund has a rich lineage of classical writers and poets who have been contributing to the prosperous literature and art assets of the city. The music and theatre in the city are greatly influenced by the schools, churches and student festivities. The vast tradition in music of the city is accentuated by the Spex tradition and the Lund Carnival. The musical front has now even developed a jazz and pop culture.

The Lund Carnival is arranged by the students and is held every four years. The city festival features music fairs, humorous skits, satire, parody and madness. The carnival is famous for the performances by students during the parade in wagons. The festival has also been creating opportunities for the budding artists.

The city is famous for two top hand ball teams and a chess team. On the industrial front, it is a centre for many technological and telecommunication companies along with medical and biotechnological industries. The city has enormous potential and provides opportunities for research and advancement.
